have you ever fired anything with a snub barrel?  I owned a 2.5 inch barrel .357.  Four shots and I sold it.  I weigh 300 lbs and it was too much jolt for me.  I cant imagine a .45.   P.s.  I love my 6inch .357 and colt 1911A1.  but no snubs for me thanks.

I'm not sure if they are still in the catalog, but at one time, Taurus offered medium frame 5-shot revolvers in both .45 Long Colt and .45 ACP.

I think just about every company that makes DA snubs has one in 45 both 45 Colt sand 45 ACP

Personally I think 44 is much more practical  when you think about ammo cost

Yes.  For about $900 you can buy the Ruger Alaskan in .454 Casull/.45 Long Colt with the 2-1/2" barrel.  Make no mistake, this one is a handful in .454 Casull but much easier to handle in .45 LC.  It is a modern double-action revolver.  So is the Taurus Raging bull also available in .454 Casull and with a 3" barrel.  Any revolver chambered for the .454 Casull will handle the .45 LC without problems.  Or for a little over a thousand you can buy the new Smith & Wesson Model 325 Night Guard .45 acp revolver.  It comes with the 2-1/2" barrel and is probably your best bet as it is more compact than the other two and the .45 acp is milder to shoot than the Casull of .45 LC.

The Russian Army produced a wonderful revolver called a Model 1917 at the turn of the last century.  It used half moon clips - these were the speedloaders of the time.  The pistol fired standard US Army 45 acp ammo.

If I was going to own a small 45 revovler - I would carry one of these - they are a part of history and extremely interesting.  Why not carry a piece of history - something unusual?
