Hey,

I'm in my last year at university studying a Bsc (Hons) in Criminology and Sociology and im now thinking on joining the RAF as a police officer. Having studied a module on civilian police it has now confirmed i do not want to join the civilian force. From what i have read Police Officers are given a hard time in the RAF....is this true and if so for what reason? Also do you have any advice/ inside information on the initial training...im hoping to join next summer so have a year or so to get myself fit enough!

Any advice would be greatly welcome.

Thanks Xx.

  1. because most people think there are petty and jumped up barrier guards.

  2. Don't waste your time! After spending all of that time studying and you want to patrol airfields with no friends. We used to have a saying. "Acting corporal unpaid and unf***king wanted" They have to live in a police block as no one else will billet with them. If you become a dog handler. The dog has more rights than you and is usually of a higher rank. Dog handlers as we used to call them. The brain at the end of the chain.

And then you have the Rockape situation. If you are ever in a room alone with a member of the Regiment only one of you will come out and it won't be the policeman.

I have seen RAF policemen run away from a fight in the Naffi to wait for it to finsh so they could arrest the loser. Because their were not enough of them to stop it. Does that sound like the type of person you want to become? Big and brave in numbers but scared and feeble by yourself. It took the Naffi manageress to break it up and she waded into it. Then the boys in the white hats came rushing in swinging sticks and shouting.

RAF policemen are universally disliked by all of the RAF personnel but also the civilian police as the see them as glorified security guards.

If you want a career in law enforcement join the civilian police at least no one will be laughing at you behind your back. If you don't believe me ask any member of the RAF or ex member and they will tell you the same thing

  3. the RAF Police are given a hard time they do get **** but its exactly the same wit civilian cops. and your training will start at RAF Halton for 9 weeks the u will go to Southwick park in portsmath and do 23 weeks police training,,.... and yes u need to get seriously fit its hard but worth it in the end,

also dont listen to all this bullshit ppl r saying bout Raf Police.. half of them were were ******* Kps and the other half were clerical..

  4. If you want to have no friends and have people hate you go for it
