Question:

Does Anyone Else Think That The NY Times McCain Flap Is Manufactured?

McCain has already wrote and published 12 op-ed pieces for the Times. Everyone knows they sent his last piece back to him for revision. Now the media is abuzz with accusations of Times' bias against McCain. I know that the right views the NY Times as just a thicker version of the Socialist Worker newspaper (even though the NYT totally beat the drum to attack Iraq along with the rest of the "liberal" media), but do you think this is all just manufactured to get sympathy for McCain? I mean, if you successfully wrote and had published 12 pieces for a publication, you probably are familiar with what they expect. Is it possible that McCain just sent the NYT a turdball and then had his campaign cry foul when it was sent back for revision?

  1. I think it is totally manufactured, to get people up in arms about the supposed injustice to McCain, and hopefully sway some votes his way in November.

I do hope most people are not that gullible.

  2. They sent the piece back and told McCain to change his views so they matched the piece Obama wrote earlier.  That sounds like the NYT has decided they don't even have to pretend to be unbiased and people will still accept it.  From your comments, they are probably right.

  3. Exactly. Obama was getting all the coverage, so McCain's campaign had to manufacture something to garner some press.

  4. No I would say that there is some true bias out there.

Democrats are just as biased and prejudiced as Rush or any other  person.

  5. I'd like to know if this sort of editing process also went on with Obama's original story. This might be pretty standard procedure -- I'm sure the op-ed page gets many submittions that read like campaign literature (not picking on McCain specifically here).

And so McCain rewrites it and get a piece in. What's so tough about that? Much ado about little, at least so far.
