Hi everyone, I just wonder what process one would go by for applying as a U.N. Peace keeper. If I'm right you need to already be enlisted in the Military, now I'm not sure if you need to apply for the position, or are you just hand picked?

  1. you have to be enrolled to the national service (military)

but you won't be chosen to be a part of the peace keeper, unless you have express this desire, or aknowledge your superior, but your father has to be a general or your uncle a colonel ...  is not peacekeeper... who wants !

  2. There is no standing UN army. When a country decides to send troops to become part of a mission sanctioned by the UN Security Council, those troops become part of a UN Peace Keeping force. So, to be part of such a force, you would have to join your country's military, and hope that at some point your unit would get to be a part of such an effort -- but you would still be a part of your own military, not a part of the UN.

  3. well in order for someone to become a UN Peace Keeper, one has to join his/her country's military.i guess if you are chosen depends on your experiences as a soldier,i.e for older soldiers and a good clean military record.for younger recruits, maybe if they are fit enough and have undergone special training and have passed the fitness tests and other training.i don't think one has to apply for the position cos i remember while watching some local news, some young soldiers were chosen for un peacekeepng duties straight after their training and they were pretty nervous and quite young! ( in their early twenties)
