if i am lucky i will have about 2 hours sleep.. probably falling asleep at 6 and having to get up at 8.

and most nights i dont even get to sleep at all..

i have tried everything..

reading a book before bed..

taking a bath..

not doing any exercise or eating hours before bed..

drinking a hot drink before i go to bed..

i dont have any naps in the day but i feel drained all the time and i am really tired and as soon as i lie down or even close my eyes.. i can never get to sleep.

i have been blaming it on being nervous about my exam results but even today i still cant get to sleep... i think about things wayy to much...

i really dont want to try sleeping pills...

does anyone know a reason for this and what i can do to fix it before i go back to school (which is in a weeks time)

  1. to much on you're mind maybe?

  2. try catnip  [make a tea out of it]

  3. You probably are just having too many thoughts that keep you awake at night. I too have trouble sleeping when I have something big on my mind. Have you tried drinking warm milk? I know you don't want to try pills but Benadryl is good to knock you out, and Excedrin PM I find works very well with no sideffect.

  4. Your deficient of a vitamin and because of this your body is not releasing melatonin(sleep chemical) Start taking b12 1000 to 2000 mcgs a day and multivitamin with iron. Also, your brain isn't resting because of its telling you somethings missing. Also, get a journal and write down every single thought that goes through your brain.

  5. well, you could either have a sinus problem or thyroid problem and dont know it, or it could be genetic, with insomnia. i have that problem, i know you don't want to take pills, but what i know works is SleepMD it's not habit forming and it dosent make you groggy in the morning either. Or this one that's  natural called , Midnight,(this one you could take it at like 2 or so in the morning and not even feel groggy in the morning) it's great.  and they help you relax You can find them at Walgreens. ( i would recomend red wine, but youre probably not of age.) other wise, do alot of excercise before you go to bed and drink camomile tea at night. Hope something works for you.

  6. You may need a new mattress, and box springs. Old mattresses can really cause sleep issues.

  7. I really wish I could help you.I am in the same boat.I take 3 sleeping tablets at night and still don't sleep, maybe you are worrying about things to much and a mild sedative from your doctor may help you get back in to a routine, maybe it's worth a try,you need to sleep.

  8. Sounds like you can't get your brain to stop.  Get your room as dark and as quite as you can.  Get lots of pillows and get really comfy.  Quit thinking about things!  Put your mind somewhere you've been where it was really relaxing.  The beach, the mountains, whatever.  Imagine yourself lying in that scene.  Elaborate, just stay focused on that.  (Add a fireplace, a running brook, etc.) Then your mind can't wonder to all the stress in your life.  Takes a little practice, but works great.  Hope it helps.
