  1. In general, younger people are more interested in tattoos than when I was 17 (39 now). As your generation moves into the workforce, I believe that the "stigma" of tattoos will begin to disappear - since they are so widely accepted by your peers.

I would be careful where I was inked, so that if you choose a more conservative profession, they can be more easily covered. For example. tattooing your face and neck are extreme even in your generation, and may give you a disfigured appearance, and let's face it ... looks matter in the professional world.  One other point is the artwork itself. skulls with knives threw them, is not a great choice in an exposed and difficult to cover area. Satanic, nude, or similar art should also be avoided.

As a business owner myself, I would not discount a potential employee for tasteful, and well maintained tattoos.

  2. I'll tell you what, I have a very good and rewarding job.  I have four tattoos, two being visible with a short sleeve shirt on.  I'm a United States Air Force Medic, a great paying professional job.  The benefits are awesome, you get to help people, and serve for your country.

  3. my boyfriend is heavily tattooed and has a great job as a trader

so...no worries! but you might need to get used to wearing long sleeved shirts to work :)

  4. I guess there are a lot of people with a lots of tattoes and great jobs !!!

  5. Not me.

  6. DON'T DO IT! i have one on my foot which is MORE than enough, you need to realize once you are working your employer will be employing you to represent the company, who do you think they would pick a dude with loads of tattoos looking like a complete nob or someone looking professional and clean cut?????

  7. i have 3 tat's with atleast 2 more planned and i work for a fortune 500 company and one of the largest finance firms in the world. dream job!!

  8. i know most of them heavy tattoo people actually own a business ?  that,s why i rarely seen them working for a company ?   some of them are actually just rich or millionaires ?

  9. I have a lot of tattoos, but I decided before I started to have them all put where they would be covered with a t-shirt. It isn't just for me, and it isn't just for my job. I did it for my kids. An adult can deal with the social stigma of being heavily tattooed. I just didn't want my kids to have to deal with the stigma of having a heavily tattooed father.

    As for my job?

I'm a teacher. I can get as many as I want now, and I doubt I would be fired, but I doubt I would have been hired if I had anything visible during the hiring process.

It isn't right that anybody is judged based simply on appearance, but anybody who is heavily tattooed will tell you it happens all the time. It's just part of the decision making process you have to think through before you get ink.

  10. No not me. I have a great job but no tattoos.

  11. if you would like a 6 figure salary, then i recommend you not having a tattoo as most people won't approve/

  12. Depends on what a 'great job' is to you.  I have many tattoos (I'm female, too), and I run my own company, making a 6 figure salary.  On my way 'up', I was able to cover them up in case someone close-minded couldn't handle them, but from what I've found, most people don't freak out.

  13. A lot of people in hair salons have tattoos and make good money cutting hair. you can become a tattoo artist, get apprenticed by someone you think is a good tattoo artist. if you live in a really big city like Austin, you could get a decent job with tatttoos. I think right now, maybe you should just get tattoos where you can still hide them if you want. That way when you get much older and have an idea of what you want to do, you can decide whether or not to get more tattoos.

  14. just keep them above sleeve level, and collar level and you'll be fine, there is still a lot of tattoo discrimination in the world.

okay, but if someone is required to cover up their tattoos or not hired because of them, could then, an employer not hire a "fat" person or a person with bad teeth because their appearance interferes with their customer contact position?

  15. I have over 300 tats. I have the job I desire. I am a licensed driller

  16. I think it depends on what you think is great. You'd be unlikely to be an accountant or a school teacher with lots of tattoos, but Marines, Mechanics, and people who work in heavy industry tend to get away with it.

  17. yes, there"s loadsa people who have tattoo"s and great jobs that i know, look at professional football players, like david beckham, he"s now got loads of tattoo"s, there"s actors/actresses who have them as well.

and as for " floppy d**k",... d**k by name,d**k by nature i see...!!!

  18. As many have said it would be wise to get them in places that are easily covered, but I have lots of friends with tattoos, included some that are nurses, doctors , big business men/woman, and lawyers. I am a very successful pet stylist at a high end pet spa and boutique, all the employees have visible tattoos including the owner of the spa.

  19. Well if you have left and right tattooed on your hands it could reduce your chance of getting a job as financial adviser for a bank

  20. yeah. my job is the best in the world. i'm a tattoo artist)) i can look the way i want without snotty arrogant fools bossing me around and make a ton of money doing what i love.

  21. You can have a great job and tattoos, just be sure to get them somewhere you can cover up when you are working.

I mean, I don't think a lot of people want to have someone operating on them with a snake tattoo going up there arm

  22. I have a dozen tattoos and four of them are very visible when i wear short sleeve shirts I am a diesel mechanic and have never had a problem getting a job due to the ink in my skin, I have a very good salary and compensation package from my employer because of the skills i have i couldnt work in an office to save my life becuase that is not the ideal profession for me

  23. I have (large) 3 tattoos and I'm a fabric designer. This is a reasonably well paid, well respected  and professional job. It has allowed me to travel to lots of countries that I wouldn't have thought to go to (South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Saudi, Dubai) and I wear top quality bespoke suits which are a perk of the job.

A lot of people say that they never see doctors and lawyers  with tattoos, therefore people in these professions don't have them. Absolute bollocks! These people may not have visible tattoos but unless you see them naked how are you going to know what they have hidden? None of my clients would ever know about my tats. My tattooist told me that on one day he tattooed a convicted thief in the morning and a barrister in the afternoon - so you never know!

  24. My mate has lots of tats and he's risen to chief toilet cleaner at his factory, the list of careers for tattooed people is endless.....bin men, road sweepers, window cleaners etc etc, Good luck with your 'Tats' and your chosen profession !
