  1. we have GSM

  2. They used to use CDMA, but Argentina recently adopted GSM

  3. CDMA is still in use but will be abandoned. GSM  is the new accepted norm. There are 3 cellular carriers with GSM networks and a Nextel Carrier  using IDEN norm. Frequencies are 850, 1900 Mhz.

  4. They use both. If you have a nextel, you can use it free to call in the US in CDMA.

  5. for some years now, new cell phones are all GSM and there are promotions to trade in CDMAs phone for GSM ones, the companies are trying to change to GSM... but some people still say CDMA has better coverage.

(I'm from Argentina, so sorry if my English is not perfect :-P )
