  1. lol its full of crime a couple of weeks ago a Krystal restaurant  was robbed and manager shot in the head, when the news people showed up and was interviewing the customers that were there one man said and i quote i just continued to eat this is atlanta after all. there are a lot of jobs but mainly due to the fact that so many people in atlanta dont wont to work and the ones they do are struggling like h**l because the price of gas is so much, houses are being foreclosed on all over the city, there is always a water issues its hot as h**l in the summer and freezing cold in the winter

  2. Atlanta is a huge city, it has crime, it depends in the area you live, the city is booming with growth, the suburbs are growing like crazy, it's diverse, my friends live in Gwinnett county, it's the best area, but the traffic is h**l, and it's overcrowded, but it's cheap to live in that area. The people still got there southern charm.

  3. MANY people are moving to Atlanta because there are many opportunities there.  It does have crime, but it depends on the which part you are trying to move to.  If you want to stay away from crime, you can move to the northside of ATL.  Even Dunwoody, Alpharetta, Buford, Roswell, etc.  The cheapest places are the Bankhead, Stone Mountain, Lithonia, Decatur, Tucker, Scottdale, College Park, Jonesboro,...etc. These areas have more crime though.  These are all cities right outside of ATL...but the city itself are good and bad...depends on the area, like I said. The people vary depending on the area, but I dont have a problem with them.  I love my ATLians! But I think you'll like it...especially downtown because it's beautiful and it has many tourists attractions. :)

  4. It really depends on what kind of job you are looking for.  Some fields of work have lots of jobs openings and some others don't.  It all depends on what kind of job or field of work you are looking to get into.  If its construction, real estate, stuff like that well you are out of luck.  If you are looking for a nursing job or law enforcement you might not have problems finding a job.  I work in the legal field and when I moved here 7 years ago, I had a job within 2 weeks.  Just depends.  Unfortunately, this city is very crowded, so depending on what kind of job you are looking for you might be competing with alot of other people.

As far as crime, crime happens everywhere, including Atlanta.  We are worse than some cities but better than others - guess it would depend where you are moving from.  I would say for the most part, most of the murders that take place here are drug-related or domestic type issues, but we do unfortunately have people that get killed in carjackings & robberies too.  I've lived in Atlanta for 7 years and never been a victim of any sort of crime.

If you are looking for something good & cheap, well good luck... usually the cheaper it is the more crime there is.  I would suggest living outside of the perimeter (preferably on the north side of Atlanta - Like Dunwoody, Norcross, Marietta).  Check the Atlanta Journal Constitution for job listings as well as houses for rent (go to the classifieds section):   www.ajc.com

I think most of the people are nice for the most part - unfortunately that doesn't apply to the interstate or roadways.  The absolute worst thing about living in Atlanta is the traffic and it is considered #1 worst commute and #2 worst traffic in the nation.  That is something to consider unless you are using public transportation.  It is a growing problem and there are no solutions at the present moment for this growing problem.

  5. There is crime everywhere. I am from NYC and there is more crime because its much bigger. The job market is very competitive. Over the years here I've learn in Atlanta it's not what you know but who you know. It is hard but not impossible. The housing here can get expensive. I will tell you, YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! I live north of Atlanta and it can get pricey. The people here are friendly but not like a friend you've known for years. Everybody is working and taking care of home. No body have time to get all in your business. If I was you I would come to visit a couple of time before I move. The traffic is the worse thing about Atlanta. If you can get somewhere where your job is against traffic that would be great.

  6. Atl is still growing.  2nd fastest growing city in USA behind Vegas.

with growth comes good and bad.  good: more jobs.  bad: more petty criminals.

Atl has one of the lowest murder rates per capita for a large city.  It is very clean and most people have southern hospitality and good manners.

Most of the crime (thefts, robberies) is committed by miscreants that moved to Atl from from poor cities or poor ghettos.  if you have a tiny piece of ambition, you can make a good life in Atl by working your way up from nothing to making good money, if you live your life right.

Most expensive part of town = North side of Atl (Buckhead, Dunwoody/Perimeter area, Alpharetta).  Cheapest = South (south Fulton county, Clayton county, Fayette counties) and any county outside of the metro area.

Renting a house is a great idea.  check atlanta.craigslist.org for good deals on housing. pick a good neighborhood.  good luck.

  7. Like all cities it depends on where you live.  Atlanta is a big city, although from what I hear and have come to find out living north like in Dunwoody, Alpharetta, Marietta, etc..is better than living south.  There is going to be crime where ever you decide to live though.  The city is always growing and there are lots of jobs here but there is also lots of competition for those jobs so it may take a while to land one.  Most of the people are friendly here.  There are lots of opportunities it just depends on who you chose to live around and be around that will determine how much you will enjoy Atlanta.

    Good Luck!
