Does Australia support Limited Liability Companies (LLCs)?

Question

I understand that various countries around the world approve of Limited Liability Companies (LLCs), but is Australia one of them? One of my friends desires to create a LLC if possible, although he lives in Australia. Any information would be helpful, including why or why not if known. Thanks for your assistance.

It doesn't look like it. The ASIC site on "How to register a company" doesn't mention an LLC at all.
