My daughter got her first diaper rash about 2 weeks ago (shes 8 weeks today) I used Desitin and it went away, but slowly..Well I switched to Balmex about 3 days ago-cuz the diaper rash came back-and it's only gotten worse! The first day-her tushy was only a little pink..Now after 3 days of Balmex-it's bright red and I know it hurts her. I change her diapers promptly-but at night time not as much when we are sleeping. She has really sensitive skin.Should I go back to Desitin? Or is there something else that works better for you?

  1. You can use those, but I have an even better suggestion (and CHEAPER!)..

Plain petroleum jelly/Vaseline. After you clean her up, dab just a bit all over your baby's bottom, front to back, and put her diaper back on as usual. Do this after every diaper change and you won't have a problem.

Its also great for babies who have extra sensitive skin as it won't irritate them even more! Many of the chemicals they use in baby creams only irritate our babies booties even more, making for an extremely painful diaper rash.

    Vaseline is such a god-send. =)~

  2. I use Bourdreax's Butt Paste and love it. Several mothers I know recommended it.  I use it often as a preventitive measure and - so far - no rash, even after all night sleepings!

  3. I have used desitin and balmex and they worked well with my daughter, it may just be her skin. you could use what everyone else is saying "butt paste" i heard it works great but i have never used it. hope your little one gets better!!

  4. Find whatever you can with the highest zinc in it. It will stay on, not wipe off and is a wonderful healer. Even when my daughter took prenatal classes the nurse told about zinc

  5. Balmex (which is vaseline), Desitin, Mustella, none of those worked for us.  My daughter got her first real bad rash that seemed like it was never going away.  A friend suggested Greers Goo.  It's prescription but all I did was call my ped and she called it in for me without a drs visit.  I used it and overnight her week long, what looked to be very painful rash was gone!!!!  It was amazing.  Because it may be a yeast infection - which won't go away with otc diaper rash creams - you may need a prescription anyway.  This stuff is great to have  on hand.  She hasn't had any major rashes since but when I see one starting I use it and by her next diaper change - gone.

This stuff should be called Greers GOLD!  lol   Good luck!!!!

  6. Bourdreax's Butt Paste

  7. I use Bordeaux's Butt Paste for my son and I love it. I used it after every diaper change when he was smaller (he's 8 months now) and he never got a rash. I stopped using it every day because I felt it wasn't necessary to do. But I do use it when he gets slightly red anywhere and it helps it go away before it even turns into a rash. I buy it at Target but I've seen it in Babies R Us also. (though I'm sure it's much cheaper in Target)

    Good Luck.

Oh, and if possible, try to leave her diaper off for a while, as many times as you can, to let the air on it. It's really good for her to let the air on it for a while.

  8. If she has sensitive skin the you should alway skin test a little spot before using the product on her whole butt.  You could try Penaten or Vasiline.  Let her bum dry off and air out ofter she goes to the bathroom!

  9. i used Bordeaux's Butt Paste and loved it but its hard to find were i live, so i use the regular desitin or desitin clear, they are the only one i have found that works on my daughter and she has normal skin.
