Does Bank Of America sell your personal information?

I have been getting calls from telemarketers that start with "this offer is for Bank Of America customers" or similiar language.

How do they know where I bank? Are they guessing?

  1. Your informations at BOA is not exaclty.. "sold." It is shared. Its a normal practice for many businesses.. its how companies produce some revenue. Marketing is an industry. But yes, if u wanna stop the sharing of ur info, contact BOA to set ur preferences or simply go to bankofamerica.com/privacy.

  2. THey are smart. They have your picture, too.

  3. Nice huh.

With all your accounts, call the banks, credit card, loan company and tell then you want to be removed from any 3rd party mailing and all marketing lists.

  4. Yes, if you read the fine print, Bank of America can give your contact information to "third parties" that offer "products and services that might be of interest" to their customers.  BofA won't give personal infomation like your account number or balance, but they will give demographic information like "Jane Doe, 123 Main St, Anytown, NY; home phone 123-4567; has a credit card that gives cashback to the ASPCA".

If you check the website, or the fine print in that little pamphlett they send a couple times a year, there is a number you can call to opt out of this.  You have to opt out for each individual checking account or credit card.
