Does Barranquilla, Colombia have a decent shopping area?

I've been in Barranquilla about 3 days but so far all I've found are slums, including downtown. Is there a better shopping district, and if so, where is it?

Barranquilla has NOTHING to offer except a sh*tty statue of Shakira. Buenavista is OK, but it's not like THE place to be. I was there for a week, and I really didn't like it much. Taxis are scarce after dark, and night life is almost non-existent. If you want to be on the coast, go to Cartagena.
