Does Bela Karolyi have something against Chinese female gymnasts?

Question

Whenever the Chinese female gymnasts score higher than the American female gymnasts, he has a lot of complaints with poor scoring and biased judges. But then there is the women's floor final where Romania won the Gold and the American female gymnasts scored higher than the Chinese female gymnasts to come in 2nd & 3rd. After the event, he was asked on NBC if he has any complaints this time with the scoring or judges. His answer, absolutely no complaints and he completely agrees with results.

I'm just wondering if there's a feud because whenever the female Chinese gymnasts wins, he has complaints but when they are out of the race for a medal, he has a lot of complements to say to other nations other than Chinese.

Bela Karolyi only was complaining about how the chinese gymnasts would have many errors but the deductions from the score were not that significant, he thought the scores that some of the chinese gymnast recieved were overrated.

other than that, he just broadly shared his suspicion of some of the chinese gymnasts being younger than the age 16, which is the age mark for how old a gymnasts must be (at the least) to compete in the olympics.

I believe he (and his wife. I am not sure what roles they have) made an error. The U.S. obviously have very talented gymnasts but have, to a extent, failed to capitalize on it. It becomes clear every time the Chinese gymnasts win an event and the U.S. don't.

The new scoring system puts more emphasize on the degree of difficulty than before. So, a difficult routine with minor errors in it is awarded with more points than an easier but flawless routine. I think the coaches are responsible for failing to recognize this. They haven't adapted to the new system.

I saw the same thing too and I was like, what the heck!?! Don't forget though that Mr. Bela was once a Romania Coach.  That is why he is okay with it.  Honestly, the performances between Shawn Johnson and the Romania were equally as good.  Why isn't he complaining about the fact that they give Romania a better score?  He is such a hater.  He should quit complaining and hope that he doesn't get his a$$ kick.

I don't think so.  Just being a sore loser--when another team that used to be weaker but is now clearly threatening his/his wife's U.S. team.

And tonight, after the Women's uneven bar event, despite the fact that athletes themselves think it's fair, he will probably have the following comments:

1.  Oh... that was a judging error, we got ripped again!

2.  The tiebreaker was totally unfair, that is nonsense!!

3.  The Chinese girl is "definitely" underaged!!!

I loved Bob Costas question that was never answered directly by him after his fellow Romanian won:  so the judging was fair this time?

If some chinese are underaged, so they are very good and strong, because they have 1.3 billion people putting pressure on them.

Chinese male gymnasts are unanimously the best in the world(they had one 14 times world champion and one 15 times, plus world no.1s in almost every events, "king of all rounds"; "lord of rings"; you name it, all Chinese), while Chinese female gymnasts aren't so impressive compare to their mens team, but they won team gold this time(despite all controversy, a win is a win), so he is probably too afraid or frustrated or angry about the fact that now both Chinese mens and womens are on top, all these compaints are a act out of desperation to convince someone that THIS IS CHINESE WOMENS TEAM, NOT MENS, SO THERE IS NO WAY THEY ARE SO GOOD.

He's an obvious racists IMHO.  He can't stand the fact that his program is beaten by the Chinese.  Pretty small minded person.  I think someone stole his Chinese takeout as a kid.

But seriously, Bela has been accusing the Chinese of underage cheating, yet provides no proof whatsoever.  (yes, some of you will point to Chinese internet sites that states different age, etc).  The fact of the matter is, the Chinese athletes have been competing internationally under FIG rules, and they accept proof as provided.  If the IOC and FIG can accept the age proof, why can't you?

So for all you readers out there... STOP believing all these rumours of underage cheating!   And accept the fact that Americans were outperformed.

This reminds me of what the n**i propaganda chief, Joseph Goebbels, once said, "say a lie often enough and people will believe it."

American media sometimes makes me sick.  Just like it followed Bush's deception into Iraq, now the media is leading a deceptive campaign against Chinese cheating.  This is sickening.

I don't get the whole underage thing either.  Okay so they might have a little bit more flexibility, but they have far far less experience, and even less strength, which everyone knows is crucial in gymnastics.  The chinese female gymnasts performed very well in the Team event, but fell apart on their own, and Liukin won with her experience.  So it's a minor issue that is blown to ridiculous proportions by the media.  I mean I have never seen them so critical when an athlete gets tested positive for banned substances, which is 10x worse.

Most likely his pent up resentment is due to the fact that the Chinese could be using under-age girls. Very unprofessional as an analyst but it's his way of showing his hate.
