  1. Bernie Williams deserves a plaque at the New Yankee Stadium. After all he had done for the Yankees they will be classless if they don't honer him with a 'Bernie Williams' day at the new stadium.

    Jack

  2. I personally think it was reprehensible how badly they treated Bernie Williams.  I think it will be a long time before Bernie gets over it.  Maybe it wont take Bernie as long as it took Yogi to get that bad taste out of his mouth.  Bernie is one of, if not the most classiest guys in baseball.

  3. they should, Bernie was a yankee in every sense of the word

  4. You mean in the same way that Babe Ruth and Gehrig have plaques? Or is there some back hallway where they put the plaques of good but not great players?

I don't think Bernie Williams deserves to be imortalized, he was a good player and had a decent career, but thats it.

  5. I think that Bernie does deserve the day and a plaque.  He was quietly an outstanding player for a long time for the Yankees and solely the Yankees.  He deserves it more than a guy like Tino or Paul O'Neil because his time was all with the organization, his success was all with the organization and he was the model of consistency for the organization for a long time, Jeter gets credit for the flare of the late 90's team but Bernie was the workhorse of the late 90's teams.

  6. I don't think I have heard that.

  7. Maybe.  Bernie was always a good, consistant player.  He always gave the Sox a hard time

  8. He will but probably not anytime soon. When he was first offered a minor league contract and refused it, there was some bitterness there, but he and the Yanks have since gotten on good terms.

In time, there will be a day to Bernie WIlliams, I'm sure.

  9. I am not a Yankees fan but I have always been a big Bernie Williams fan because he was a player, on a very short list, that played the game the right way.  I believe he was an over achiever who always gave it his best shot and he was the consummate professional, great team player and teammate.  With all that being said I believe he falls short of HOF consideration and/or a plaque in the new Yankee Stadium.  In 16 years with the Yankees he hit .297, 287 HR's, 1,257 RBI, 2,336 Hits, and did not have a lot of speed.  He was a solid MLB player but falls short of elite status and recognition.

  10. He should. Bernie was always my favorite player. The Yankees should honor him with either a plaque or a day. He deserves it. He was such a HUGE part of the Yankees run during the late 90s.

  11. He Should Easily. He Was A Great Yankee And Deserves To Be Honored.

  12. maybe a bernie williams day, but he doesn't deserve a plaque, he was an above average center fielder, on some very good teams!!!!!!

  13. The same could be asked for Paul O'neill and Tino Martinez....i  dont know if they will be putting new plaques in but i think Bernie and Paul O'Neill will both get their own days because they were a part of 4 championships

  14. As much as I love the Sox, I have to have respect for Bernie.  He was such a class act and a great ball player.  I remember him always giving Pedro a hard time and was always a tough out.  As much as I despise players like A-Rod, Giambi, Posada, and the Steinbrenners, you can't despise Bernie.  I'd put him at the same level as Rivera, respect wise.

  15. I don't think he has the numbers that some of their other Centerfielders did.

  16. Yes he does. Bernie Williams, Derek Jeter and Paul O'Neil were the keystone of the Yankees 1996-2002 run. The Yankees honor their heros, Bernie Williams holds ALL TIME postseason records for RBI's and Doubles, and is 2nd in Runs, Hits, HR's and more. He had over 2,000 hits for the team, he played hard day in and day out for almost 2 decades. He is as much a part of the Yankees success as anyone. He wasn't one of my favorites as a fan, but I always respected his ability and his committment to the pinestripes.
