Planning on an over night stay in London and quite fancy the iconic view of Westminster over the River Thames in the morning, don't however fancy hearing Big Ben chime every 15 minutes throughout the night!

  1. Sure does. Like living near a rail line, you don't hear it after a while.  Lets face it - it's right next to the houses of parliament and it doesn't stop them from hearing each other.

  2. Big Ben does chime all through the night but the hotels etc that are near by, all have double glazing which effectively shuts out the noise. I have stayed in a hotel very close to St Stephens Tower and we weren't disturbed by the chiming at all.

  3. Chimes 24/7.

  4. Shouldn't keep you awake. the politicians manage to sleep through it when they are working.

  5. try being in ST THOMAS hospital at night, sure does

  6. Big Ben chimes 24/7 365 days a year, including the quarters, the halves and also on the hour.  If you're there at midnight, it's 12 mighty bongs. Thankfully at 1am it's only one mighty bong.
