Does Blu-Ray play any region DVD?

Hey, I just got a new Sony Blu-Ray player and I was wondering if anyone knows if it can play all regions of regular DVD's. I know there are different regions for Blu-Ray discs that isn't what I'm asking, so please don't go telling me the differnet Blu-Ray regions. Any help would be great, thanks.

simple a blu-ray player is not a region-free regular dvd player

it only plays blu-ray movies and regular movies from the region you bought the player!

Here's what I know:

Blu ray players play Blu-ray discs, and MOST players support standard DVD's as well. They do not play HD DVDs, though. There ARE combination players available that do Blu Ray and HD, but there's no point in buying those, since HD DVDs are going off the market.
