Does CHP check your driver's license if you are from another state?

I was just wondering because I had heard some "tomfoolery" about all they do is attempt to make you get a CA license and just write out a ridiculous, expensive ticket.

Yup. When they stop you, they run a license and warrant check. In the computer age, they have access to all your info.

of course they do.  

We run a  DL check and a warrants check at the same time.  

It also states if you have a concealed handgun license, and a protective order.
