People have amazingly huge lists of what they want in a employee, which isn't the problem. The problem is after the crappy hours and meeting the

huge set of skills all they want the pay is 9 dollars an hour. wtf. This is insane that is fast food wages. I see jobs that require a 4yr degree that pay 13 an hr. I made that much when i was 19 10yrs ago. Am I the only one seeing this? I have a degree and when someone tells me I am going to get 10hr to start I have to leave before I punch them in the face. Is this everywhere? Thx for reading and thanks in advance for your feedback. Also to all those business owners who post these job adds for super solders for 9 bucks an hour, try living on 9 an hour. My wife and I were watching modern marvels on history channel and they were showing how stuff is made. Through the whole show machines and robots were doing all the work. We counted 2 workers in the entire process. What an eye opener for us!!!!!!! I have a feeling humans wont be needed for anything in the not to distant future. I am a mechanic so watching these shows have always been fascinating for me but after counting 2 employees in a major manufacturing company I feel rather sad for our future. We are so proud of our technology and yet I am not sure it holds to great of a future unless you have a degree in robotics or mechanical engineering. Even from a mechanic stand point, auto manufacturers are trying to build cars that can diagnose them selves. Just plug in a computer and it tells you what to replace. Looks like more 9hr jobs. I will no longer be needed in 20yrs or so. I guess no body will. Interesting.

  1. yes, the california job market does suck.  I graduated from a prestigious university and I have applied to some jobs that I consider to be BELOW me but they still reject me.  I went to a job interview for wells fargo for the crappy bank teller job and there were middle aged business professionals with 10+ years of experience in the room being interviewed as well.  There was even a DOCTOR applying for the job.

  2. Manufacturers are cutting labor costs anyway they can find a way. If it's not by sending jobs to Mexico or China, for slave labor. It will be any other way they can think of that will be cheaper in overhead costs. And my friend, labor costs are their number 1 target. I worked in a factory for ford motor co. for 16 yrs. Lost my job to cutbacks, (China). Having to settle for 10.00 per hr. now. Looks like it's going to be this way for a while!

  3. The job market as a whole across the United States isn't great right now because the economy isn't in good shape.  The collapse of the housing market, the falling dollar, mortgage giants Fannie and Freddie needing to be bailed out...these are just a few reasons why jobs are fewer.  Companies and all sorts of smaller stores are trying to cut costs and save themselves from bankruptcy.  This means fewer employees and lower wages/salaries.  Yes, it is true that the advent of the computer is eliminating certain jobs, but remember that the economy isn't helping the situation.  Many people are in the same situation as you.

  4. It is true that we need to compete with machine to make a living. But human has the feelings. When you are seeking jobs again, please remember to make use of your social network. Here is a networking jobsite--Jobirn.com, where you can chat with hiring managers or recruiters directly. My faith is: there is always an opportunity for you somewhere.
