In major urban areas, yes; in rural regions, it's almost non-existent.

depends on where in Canada you go. I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia and our trasit system is horrible. I've heard other people say that out west has a great trasit system.

It really depends where you're talking about. In most of the major cities toronto, montreal etc. it's quite good. If you were to just stay in a place like toronto and want to get around it's quite adequate. I live north of Quebec city and here public transportation doesn't exist at all. There's pretty much nothing in the majority of Canada (we're only 33 million people and the majority of us live close to the american border) so if you end up in one of the more rural or remote area there's just not a high enough concentration of people. But like I said most of the major cities are good, and it's fairly easy to go from one large city to another.

in the major urban centres it ranges from good to you can't get there from here.  In some of the smaller cites they stop the buses at midnight and they don't run on Sundays.  So I guess the average rating of public transit in all urban areas is OK to good.  HOWEVER once you get out of the urban areas to the sub-urbs and beyond it goes down hill rapidly from poor to NO service.  Canada like America is built on cheap fuel prices so that most people have at least 1 car.  I live in a small city an hour away from 2 major centres and I can not take the train to one of them and the other the train stops here one or two times a day and can not be used for communting.  There are buses to these centres but they also run on a limited schedule and not on the weekends.

it depends where you go.

the bigger cities have more advanced public transportation such as buses, trains, and subways.

in very small towns there aren't any.
