Does Cancun (the Riu Caribe in particular), have any seaweed on the beaches or in the sea?

I have heard there is, but do not know how much.

Has anyone been there recently, and know how much seaweed is on the beach or in the sea? Did it affect your holiday? TripAdvisor mentions nothing of the seaweed.

Is there any?

I stayed at the Riu Caribe last year. There is no seaweed. The beach is very clean.

i havent been but to be honest riu and iberostar are two of the biggest hotel groups. they would not choose a patch of beach as most have private beach part and they look after and clean it themselves.

        Most beaches in Cancun are clean and don't have any seaweed, I recomend you to go to Cozumel.. it's a little island in front of Cancun.. you just take a Ferry.. it takes you about 30 minutes and you'll find the most amazing crystal clear beaches you've ever seen.. they are beautiful and quiet.. Isla Mujeres is another beach also very near that is quite fun.. you can snorkle and swim with sharks.. I hope you have a lot of fun in our beautiful country!

Last time I was there the beach was fine.  Beach near the port may have some but you wouldn't want to swim there anyway.  Near the hotel don't worry, seaweed is bad for business!!!

Not the last time I was there. Mind you., that would be 50? years ago.
