Or are they ok with just a T-Shirt and jeans.

will they cook anything for you, and I mean anything? Like even if it's not on the regular menu, will they make it just for you?

Thanks.

  1. all cruise lines make u dress for dinner

  2. Most cruise lines just have one night where you have to dress up, but some friends of mine just wore khaki pants and a button up shirt on formal night. Other than that I believe the only thing you can't wear in the dining room is shorts. So yeah jeans are fine for the non-formal nights, but on formal night you arent allowed to wear jeans Im pretty sure anything else will be fine.

  3. Celebrity is a premium cruise line.  The passengers expect EVERYONE to conform to a certain minimum standard.  T-shirts and jeans would never be acceptable, even on casual nights.  And on formal nights Celebrity will expect you to dress up.

Also, while Celebrity will try and accommodate special requests, Celebrity is not going to accommodate you for ANYTHING that you can think of.  What Celebrity will do is cook you a steak that is not on the menu, if it is a steak that they do offer.  Also, Celebrity will make spaghetti for you, even if it is not on the menu.  But they are not going to provide you with a chocolate covered broiled penguin if they don't normally serve chocolate covered broiled penguin.

  4. you can be as dressed-up or as casual as you like. the waiters are very helpful and you can even have 2 desserts if you want. there are other places on board to eat too.

  5. yes you have to dress up. there are 2 formal evenings on a 7 day cruise.

they can accept requests for food, and like others have said, they do have limitations.

    good luck

  6. Yes, you do have to dress for dinner.  Some nights are formal, some just dressed-up.  There are alternatives if you don't want to dress up for the dining room.

To some extent, Celebrity will fix what you want, but they do have limitations.  On one cruise I got their creme brulee every night because I told the waiter I had liked it so much on a previous cruise.  You can usually get shrimp cocktail every night [sometimes they want notice the night before].  Ask your waiter.

BTW, a great site for questions like this and any others you might have, go to CruiseCritic.com and click on "Boards" at the top of the page.  You'll find all the information you could possibly want - and, if not, just ask!

[In re this particular question, search for threads about the dress code on the Celebrity board - you'll find more entries than you can read!]

  7. You didn't say which ship but all cruise ships have one or more places where you can go most any time for casual dining.  So if "T" shirts and jeans is all you want to wear you can go to the buffet or these other casual places.  But you cannot expect to walk in the main dining room, regardless of which Celebrity ship, with a "T" shirt on for diner.  The MatreD will stop you and politely ask you to leave until you have the proper dress.  If its jean you want to wear you can probably get by with a pullover shirt with a collar (as long as the jeans are not the wholly or ragged type dragging on the floor and you wear regular shoes and not sneakers or flip-flops.

The formal nights are REQUESTED not REQUIRED so you don't have to wear a tux or suit and tie unless you want to.  BUT, every evening after 6:00PM they also request that you wear sports casual in all of then public places.  There is some leeway there and I have seen many people with jeans and casual shirts in the casino and show room.  But just do not try going around in shorts and flip-flops, except in the gym and pool/hot tub areas.

In the alternative dining places you get what they have fixed.  In the main dining hall you can put in requests and if its something that they can fix in a few minutes they may accommodate you.  But don't expect to go in there and order stuff that's not on the menu and that takes time to prepare, like a soup, or baked lasagna, or venison.

The other option that you have for dinner if you just do not want to dress is order from the room service menu.  The food is free but the menu will be limited.
