Does China Mobile log the IMEI number when a cell phone user makes a call?

My phone was stolen recently and since I have a record of the IMEI number I was hoping that China Mobile would be able to locate it.

give me one good reason why china should monitor your call and also HOW can they monitor the calls from your cell phone. supposing u buy a nokia set made in sweden. do u think nokia in sweden will keep a tab on all calls made from any other country, whereever that particular set is sold.

imei number is traced through your mobile service provider. for example, if you are using the services of AIRTEL, then airtell can trace the imei number. no other service provider in India can trace this imei number. so how can china do it.

The orders to trave the imei number being used can be given to the service provider by police or court only. they will never divulge these details to any individual.

so please lodge an FIR with local police withthe imei number of your set and request them to try and trace this number. they will have to send the imei number to all mobile service providers in India.

But in the end, I do salute your far fetched imagination that some one in china can trace your phone. this is just fantastic and wishful thniking
