That's what the Chinese Government seem to believe. Just one of the 20 golf courses in Beijing has been developed legally, according to a member of the law committee in China's parliament. The Chinese government is worried that land that could be better used for farming is being illegally utilised to build golf courses that have not been officially approved. Some of the courses in Beijing thought not to have been developed through official channels include the luxurious Jack Nicklaus-designed Pine Valley  and two championship courses, the Beijing Honghua and the CBD International, which have hosted the European Tour-sanctioned China Open recently.
