  1. no

  2. You could still embrace the ethics of Christ and believe that he was just a really nice guy.. but it sort of loses something.

Without the Resurrection Christ is just a holy man..

Without the miracles Christ is just a  guy asking people to play nice.

    but that's just my opinion.

Perhaps you would enjoy reading Thomas Jefferson's version of the Bible,, the Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazarath. Jefferson edited out all the supernatural stuff.

  3. Depends on your personal definition of Christian.  In its purest and original form the word "Christian" meant simply "One who followed the teachings of the Christ (or Jesus)".  It came to mean, over the centuries, one who bought into the whole 'Jesus as God' scenario.  I know many people who doubt the whole resurrection and Jesus as God thing and still consider themselves Christian.

  4. Resurrection? yes. Physical? Not necessarily.

1 Co 15:42-29 describes the Resurrection as being in the Spirit, rather than in the flesh, and shows that "flesh" cannot "inherit" God's Kingdom.

Also compare the contested translation of 1 Peter 3:18 in various modern Bible translations.

  5. I believe so. If you believe in Jesus and God you have the basics of becoming a Christian however the Resurrection is a major part of Christian beliefs  and practices including prayer.

  6. I think a lot of religion is open to interpretation. That is why we have Catholics and Protestants-both with Christian beliefs, Sunnis(don't know if that's spelled right) and Sheites(don't know if that's spelled right)-both with Muslim beliefs. I believe in God, yet I have a scientific view of the world and beyond. When you think of it, Christianity is based on the Jewish faith. That's where it gets it's Old Testament from. So my personal opinion is that all religion is open to interpretation and should be used as a moral guideline more than anything else. I think the amount of people who claimed to be Christian in this world would be halved if it rested solely on the Resurrection as a real event. For me Jesus' greatest teaching was the lesson in the story he told about the good Samaritan. My interpretation of him telling that story is that it's about teaching his apostles not to be prejudiced against people with different religious beliefs. you don't have to be of a particular religious faith to help a person in trouble. Apologies for any spelling mistakes.

  7. yes. to be christen means you believe in everything that Christ believed in and his resurrection.

  8. No.

Like all the Abrahamic faiths it rests on a belief that humans need to saved from (original) sin, as per the fall.

To be Christian requires a belief that following the teachings of Jesus provides a way for humans to be saved from this sin. Some Christians may feel that a physical resurrection of Jesus is required. Others may feel thats taking it too literally, and that Jesus was merely seen by his disciples after he had died.

  9. Obviously yes! (especially if you're a Catholic)

Although having said that, if you're an Anglican, anyfink goes!
