Does Coke have a use by date?

I have found lots of cans of coke in a box in my garage and they have a date stamped on them of Nov07. is it safe to drink? I have heard that at best it is a best by date rather than a use by date. Is this true?

I would think that it is ok... a lot of companies play it very safe when it comes to Use by dates to protect themselves from law suits.  I don't think you will get sick from it, though the Coke may taste a little different or stale.

for a simple answer: yes it is safe to drink...it just says best if use by date for the taste ..or for best taste....ITS OKAY..but put em in a freezer ..so they taste better

The answer stamped is the "best by" date and is one year from the date of manufacture.  The best by date is determined by Coca Cola to ensure product quality to the consumer.  Given the pH of Coke and the CO2 pressure, it is still safe to drink.

If it's that old, I wouldn't drink it. It's expired...

It probably is. I think that's the processing date. Open one up and try it. You'll know if it's still good.

Its a best by date but I wouldn't recommend it this far on.

only 5 months out of date if they aren`t rusty or have dents in them i`d try 1 they should be ok

I'd probably agree, it wasn't that long ago, I mean...what could have happened to it?

I doubt it would have gone still, if they're all sealed..

I'd probably say its just a best by date.

The best by date is more for the company's sake than anything else.  You're not going to die or explode if you drink the soda.  It's for quality purposes - and since they're cans, they keep better, so they shouldn't go flat.

I would think it's OK. Might taste a bit tinny, but I doubt it'll've gone off.

as long as its sealed you should be ok to drink it, i have before and it never hurt me

They should be fine...they are in a can...crack one open.  See if it tastes the same...its not going to harm you!

Duh! Even water has an expiration date or use by date!

If it's regular coke, they're still fine. If it's Diet, it probably tastes terrible at this point.
