  1. they have Aldi there, but there are soooo many great markets you will have no problem buying fresh food that you can keep in your room.  there is a large section in the shopping area that is underground and has a good selection.

    beautiful city...

  2. wht are you talking about?

  3. yes there is

  4. As mentioned above Kaufland is pretty similar to Tesco (although a little bigger than those Tescos i know from GB (Cornwall)).

Their assortment is wide spread like food and non-food articles.

The closest one to the exhibition center can be found there:

    Kaufland

    Frankfurter Straße 87a

    51065 Köln-Mülheim

Actually it is not in walking distance so you have to use your own car or go by taxi or bus.

Beside Kaufland (one of the largests ones) you'll find a bunch of supermarkets. Watch out for the following:

    Real (another big one)

    Edeka

    REWE

    Plus

    Aldi

    Penny

    Kaufland

    Spar

However, you can also buy beverages and snacks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) in petrol stations (there might be a reason to discuss their prices...not that reasonable).

    Cheers and "Prost"!

  5. Are you serious about this question??

Come on, Cologne is a very large city, and, YES, it has got hundreds of supermarkets in every part of the city.

Considering the fact that you nowadays find a Tesco hyperstore (or whatever) in almost every tiny hamlet now (even in Bognor Regis, I think), that question really answers itself, doesn't it?

  6. Of course there are a lot of big supermarkets. But Carrefour and Tesco dont exist in Germany, instead look for real, Kaufland or Edeka. You should find locations on their websites.

  7. lol, you're funny, do you think Köln is a village or something?

The recommandations are right though I would suggest Kaufland instead of REAL,- or EDEKA because they are more expensive (same products). ALDI, LIDL, Penny, Norma, Netto are small supermarkets where you can get all the necessary things you need, but if you want a wider range of products, go to Kaufland/Kaufmarkt (is the same)....or REAL if you have to.

  8. Why wouldn't there be? Koeln is a really big city. Try looking for stores like Pennymarkt, REWE which are just off the top of my head.
