  1. No branch of government necessarilly has more power than any other branch.

    Each influences the other.

President does command the military, can appoint people to positions of power, sign treaties, and use Executive orders to get somethings done.

Congress approves appointnments, writes laws, the Senate declares war, and congress must ratify any treaty signed by the president.

  2. Congress does not have more formal constitutional powers than the president.  The Constitution was designed so that all three branches would be equal in power.

I would argue that the president has more power because of his informal powers.  For example, the president can use the media to build support for his positions in a way that Congress cannot (since the message tends to get watered down with 535 people).

Also, in the past few years Congress has not used many of their formal constitutional powers.  Many people forget that Congress declares war!

  3. Because only Congress can create laws.

    Only Congress can tax.

    Only Congress can authorize spending.

  4. yes. the democrat congress is rated lower than our republican president which people fail to point out

  5. No they don't, checks and balances prevent that from happening
