Does Conservation of Energy apply to telekinesis?

If a telekinetic lifts a 1 kg rock to a height of 1 m, he has done 9.8 Joules of work on the rock. Where did the energy come from? What decreased in energy by 9.8 Joules to maintain conservation of energy?

  1. Well, to believe in anything paranormal such as telekinesis, ghosts, etc., you pretty much have to toss out the laws of nature and physics.

I have listened to "ghosthunters" trying to give weird theories about why certain things happen, but it is all pretty much baloney.

In order to explain paranormal phenomena you pretty much just have to trash scientific laws, and just say that it is magical or some kind of spiritual thing that happens.

It is doubtful that you can get a good legitimate answer to this question.

  2. Ask a psychic

  3. if telekinesis was proven to be real, I could answer that, lol.

  4. By having a very strong belief (willpower) that there is no weight; that there is no gravity; that all exists as one....

Telekinetic's do 'NOT' believe (willpower) in physics, which is why they can perform stunts that defy scientific logic....

  5. SNAP!

Don't ask such specific and logical questions.  It ruins the fantasy.

  6. As in everything - more practice, more results.

All people having some psi-energy know they are begining  with small exercises and then come result.

As to a/m telekinetic I do not understand why this is done and of course from where comes the energy - perhaps physics could answer with Torsions...

  7. It may be same kinda thing as when people are able to create abnormal feats when in critical situations such as lifting cars off people who are trapped, it happens, but no-one knows where the energy comes from.

Not saying anyone has ever lifted a car with telekensis, but it may share the same pricipals somewhere :)

  8. The appearance is; there is a duo nature to the universe, so you can have a change of ht., a rock,a telekinetic. But all that is the illusion, there is no change, no rock, no telekinetic.

So; No the conservation of energy does not apply.

  9. Again the answer is we simply don't know. Some parapsychologist believe that such abilities will be explained in terms of established scientific knowledge and others believe that it will require new and expanded (possibly radical) new discoveries in our understanding of science.

Most test have been to establish the reality of phenomena and the effects are small (though consistent) and findings are certainly open to criticism on grounds of theory (there is no good theory to explain the experimental results).

However, the charges of most skeptics (fraud, bad statistics, etc.) are readily shown to be non issues.

There simply hasn't been an effort to concentrate on experiments that test theories. In this sense PK research lags years behind ESP research.

Again, here are links to the scientific research so you can read up on it and ask informed questions.

    Psi

  10. No,The telekinetic energy is actually wasted.Energy spent by anyone deluding themselves is wasted not conserved.

  11. I believe that no one truly knows where the energy comes from, if it does exist.  Hey in the paranormal world anything could happen, so there is you answer.

  12. It can if you want it to! Since "telekinesis" is science fiction, you can make up your own laws!
