Does Crystal beast Topaz Tiger do damage step only?

Question

So what if Topaz Tiger attacked a monster with 1800 attack then would the monster be destroyed because of Topaz's effect or would ur oppenent just lose the life points?

Once you enter your Battle Phase Topaz Tiger's ATK becomes 2000 and battle damage would happen as normal. The 1800 ATK monster would die and its controller would take 200 damage.

Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger gains 400 attack during the damage step when attacking a monster, so in that case Crystal Beat Topaz Tiger would be 2000 attack and destroy the 1800 attack monster also dealing your opponent 200 Life Points.
