Does DVD recording quality improve with a component video connection to tv instead of a composite connection?

The quality of the recording will only be as good as the signal coming into the recorder (and the capability of the recorder). The output to the TV has nothing to do with the quality of the recording, but component cables will typically give you a better picture than composite.
