  1. Damon will be on a short leash this year - if he falters early McMahon will get the starting job.

  2. only if he doesn't deserve it.

  3. I dont see how though...

Damon Allen is the best QB in the CFL, well, at least hes got the most passing yards in the pro football.

I see your point though, Damon Allen will get his *** set on fire because you got Michael bishop on your tail. Michael bishop has shown last year he can lead a team, so Damon Allen cant s***w up this season. One slip and hes done.

I always thought the talent level in CFL is actually good. People keep on saying that CFL is actually rejects from the NFL. Some are, but the fact remains that in my mind, the CFL ball is much harder to play than NFL ball.

Saying that, I am not worried at all about the talent level of CFL players.

  4. yup. kinda like allowing chris chelios to continue his career, if only to collect a paycheck.

  5. i'm pretty sure he is getting the starting job...

  6. Damon Allen is an incredible athlete, who has an elasticity to his body that has allowed him to play relatively uninjured throughout his career. He brings over 20 years experience to the game with a body that is probably comparable to one 10 years younger. So no it doesn't raise the question of talent in the CFL. It shows that an athlete with the mind set to play into his 40's and the luck to not get injured and the drive to maintain his body can compete in today's world. Case  in point is Chris Chelios of Detroit Red Wings. No one says that he is only still playing because the talent pool has dwindled. He still plays because he is still good enough to compete with guys half his age.

  7. Well, as a Winnipegger, I'd love to have the talent of Damon Allen throwing to the Blue Bombers WR's.

We haven't seen consistent talent since.......,

well, the last year we had consistent talent, I hadn't been born yet.  So, to answer your question, no, this does not "raise the question" of the talent in the CFL.  Guys like Khari Jones and Kevin Glenn do.

But it's the CFL, what kind of talent are we supposed to have anyway.  Any player that would be a star here would rather go make more money and be a third string special teams player in the NFL.

Don't hate me for my answer, but you know it's true.

    Nuff Said

  8. No, it helps the league. He is a Hall of Fame QB and can still play. Throwing him away would hurt the credibility. If he struggles he will be replaced. He still sells tickets and that is what it is all about.

  9. This does not hurt the credibility one bit. For starters, it shows that he still plays because he loves the game, not just their for a paycheck or for something to do. I say that with his age, and he's still able to be an offencive threat in the league, all the more power to him. Take for example Danny Mac, is he not older than Damon Allen? Should he still be allowed to play? Of Course !!!!!!!

  10. Not at all. Damon Allen is the best passer in CFL history, and continues to play at a very high level. He's obviously not as good as he was in his prime, but he's still no doubt a very capable quarterback
