Does Data mean memory?

on my verizon account on line it say i used allot of data what is data is it memory on my phone but why does it say the dates and when i used the data its wired because i never used the internet on my phone

data does mean memory, what it could mean is that you have alot of things going on at once, or the processor on the phone is slow.

Data---as far as your phone bill goes, is text messaging, emailing, using any special verizon or phone features that need "internet connection", anything other than phone calls. It is not strictly internet browsing.

Data, for phone service, means connecting to the internet, but it also means texting.  If you send and recieve text messages, that is considered a data transfer.  So is connecting to a website or browsing for new ring tones.
