They have several malls, but they also have a shopping center with a skywalk that is kinda fun.   You can walk from one building to the next and it's kinda like a mall.

your best bet would be Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines (its about a 20 min drive from des moines) and its the most up-to-date with the most popular stores (Hollister, Abercrombie, AE, Express or Hot Topic if youre emo)

Valley West would be your other choice.... Merle Hay and Southridge are horrible excuses for malls

I think your best bet would be Valley West Mall... they have a couple department stores as well as the Gap, Banana Republic, etc. in the mall.  Happy hunting.

Some people have mentioned Jordan Creek and Valley West Malls.  Both are good, but Jordan Creek encompasses a whole town center with a Lake District, Shopping District, and The Village.  Jordan Creek is in West Des Moines, IA; it is about 20 minutes from Des Moines.

The Lake District surrounds a 3.5 acre lake with bike trials, walkways, numerous waterfront upscale dining establishments, a hotel, and an amphitheater.

The Shopping District is a 2-story shopping mall with both upscale retailers and lifestyle stores.

The Village is sort of an outdoor mall.

Not very far away from Jordan Creek is West Glen Town Center, which also houses upscale shopping destinations
