my kids are 3 and 5 years old now and they are old enough to tell me when they hurt or not but they get heat rash and i put desitin on them and they say it feels better so no it wont hurt them it sooths them

No, Desitin should not hurt babies. However your child may have a sensitivity to it like my son did. I put a dab on a small red dot on my sons behind....the next morning its was a big red spot so I put more Desitin on it (this continued for the next two days) Finally I came to my senses and realized that it was the Desitin that was making him red. Try Bordeauxs Butt Paste instead.

No, Desitin won't hurt your babies rash but I recommend using an ointment called "Lantiseptic" I've only been able to get it at walmart (it's behind the pharmacy counter but you don't need a perscription) and it will clear up even the worst rash w/out being painful for your baby. My youngest daughters behind would be raw and it would usually be completely better w/in 24hrs. (This product is for adults, but is safe for infants too.)

If it is just a little irratation, I recommend using "Caldescene" powder- it comes in a pink bottle and you can find it at Walgreen's for about $5- it is worth EVERY penny!!! My pediatrician recommended the powder b/c when my youngest was born she had a diaper rash- I was hesitant about spending that much on powder, but she needed it... Also, we used it ALL the time and it lasted for a year b/c you only use a little bit. Good Luck!

i found that rashes wouldnt go away with creams, i started using A + D ointment at 5 months, its an antibacterial, like neosporin, i us it at the first sight of redness works great.

It helps diaper rash, but A&D ointment is much more effective for soothing the baby with diaper rash.
