I plan to buy a graphic card that supports DirectX 10 and I'm wondering if I buy the card would it still be able to run games that require DirectX 9. Also, can someone tell me which of these cards are the best:

  1. you sure you want a pci card?

that technology is 8 years out of date for use in gaming graphics cards.

not sure what sort of games you plan on running. if only old games itll be ok but it will be useless for anything recent

  2. Yes it supports it.

And to be honest none of those cards will run DX10 games in DX10 at all. You need to start looking for a new motherboard with PCI express compatibility.

  3. Yes.

  4. yes you can, you might want to start looking into a motherboard upgrade and getting pci-express cards, they are much better, and can cost like 150 for a very good one

  5. You only have plain PCI and nothing more? Woe be you! I suggest selling the PC and replacing it with something else that has an AGP or PCI-E slot. Those cards are so slow and PCI so limiting, that I think it's definately your best choice.

Otherwise, get this. HD2400 and X1550 are definately the fastest PCI accelerators. Both likely even saturate and bottleneck the bus, not that they're very good or anything. X1550 is probably faster than 2400pro, but the 2400 is strangely cheaper at Newegg. See if Tiger Direct doesn't have a cheap PCI X1550.

    HD2400Pro
