women dnt have to cover up but many do

  4. Dubai is an Islamic country but is fairly liberal. Hijab is not a requirement, it is left to personal choice. Most Emirati ladies will wear it but non muslims are not expected to.

  5. I have lived in Dubai for 18months.  Yes it is an Islamic country but extremely forgiving of us westerners. Some people dress extremely briefly and don't get in any trouble.  I have lived pretty much as I do at home here.

We can buy alcohol we just get a licence to buy it.

You can't bring some medications into the country.  So I didn't even bring antihistamine because I wasn't sure.  There are extreme penalties.  But when you are here you can buy Aspirin, Panadol etc.. you can also buy over the counter anti biotics without a prescription.

My standard of living is very comfortable. Which is nice because it is REALLY HOT!

  6. NOH NOT REALLY IV SEEN SOO MANY MUSLIM GIRLS IN SKIRTS AND TANK TOPS ETC ION MALL ETC SOO I DON THINK THEY ARE DOING A GOOD JOB FALLOWING THE ISLAMIC LAW.

  7. yes it does and is strict about the rules and islam

  8. sadly yes

  9. rules I do not know exactly but religion yes .and about dressing and  hijab most of them do..

  10. The hijab is not mandatory and neither are other traditional Arab clothes.

Actually, having lived in the Middle East, Dubai is fairly liberal by regional standards. You do see men wearing shorts and women wearing shorter skirts, etc.  but you do need to refrain from wearing clothes that are overtly revealing (such as miniskirts, tube tops, etc.) outside the beach. But Dubai is more tolerant than let's say Saudi Arabia.

They have clubs, bars and stuff you won't find elsewhere in the region, but the regulations of the Islamic law are still adhered to.

Hope that answers your question :)

  11. yes but not as strictly as some countries like saudi. women do not have to wear the hijab but it is always wise to dress modestly in souks and around town. of cousre at the beach and in hotels and beach clubs then normal beachwear is acceptable.   alcohol is only sold in hotel bars and restaurants/nightclubs except if ur non muslim and hold a residence visa when ur allowed an alcohol permit which entitles u to purchase a certain amount of alcohol a month from special shops which are not open to the general public.
