Does Enfanmil Lipil with Iron suppose to smell yucky when it is mixed with water?

I have been feeding my daughter pure breast milk ever since she was born, but because my milk is getting low as a backup I made 1-4oz formula that was given to us from the hospital. The brand is Enfamil Lipil with Iron. Has a blend of DHA & ARA - Nutrients found in breast milk. On the box it also says - Milk-Based Infant Formula Powder. After I mixed 1packet of powder with 4oz water - I smelled it and I immediately gagged - LoL - My question is, "Does formula suppose to smell horribly? And if so, does it taste bad as well?" Most mothers won't be able to answer the above question, but those of you who fed this product to your newborn babies .. did your baby like it? Please explain. I know my breast milk smells sweet because whenever I hold my daughter she breathes in my face to where I always get a whiff of her sweet breath, which I enjoy smelling.

YES ITS SUPPOSE TO STINK.. ALL FORMULA STINKS.. SO THATS NORMAL... AND MY SON LIKES IT.. THE ONLY THING I DONT LIKE IS WHEN HE BURPS.. EWW... LOL DOESNT SMELL VERY NICE.. BUT THATS NORMAL TO..

Yes, they smell bad.  If you happen to store a couple of pre-made bottles, please date them, I smelled a bad formula mixture once and it was 10 times worse.

All baby formula smells weird.

If it tasted bad they would not suck it. My son was on carnation good start which he did good on.

Welcome to the world of foul formula!! It smells icky. Try Nestle Good Start Formula it has DHA and ARA in its' Supreme formula. It is the best smelling I have found. For some good coupons I go to www.verybestbaby.com

I don't like the smell of formula. The powder stuff smells the best. If you use the ready made stuff it smells worse.
