Does FAFSA cover books???

i am trying to make sure i have enough money for my first year for books.

  1. Most of the time you have to pay out of pocket for books.  However, your overall cost of attendance budget will have a moderate budget built in for your expenses for books so you can be reimbursed for your book purchase.

    Some, dare I say few, schools will actually have a book voucher program for those students who do not have the money to pay for the books up front.  They take the cost of the books out of any refund check you are due when you over borrow the tuition and fees.

Sometimes it does and some times it doesn't.  It just depends on how much you are given and how expensive the school is.  Yes it does sometimes pay for off campus housing and food, but not if you are going to a school costing 30K a year for example.  Loan amounts are limited, as are the grant amounts... many folks want to do grants only and are sadly dissapointed when they don't get any or enough to pay for just a portion of the costs.   Here is a good book about fin aid and answers most questions you have.

  3. Yes it will cover all school expenses that are directly related to your schooling... it will not cover off campus living or food
