Does FM reception depends on orientation of the cell phone?

I have bought a NOKIA 3110 recently. It has good reception of FM only when it is oriented in some particular direction. Is it okay or something wrong with the phone?

  1. I think I also have the same porblem

  2. HI,

All FM recievers follow Line of sight reception...Simply means FM radio signals aren`t

like AM or satellite TV signals which comes from above space/sky...It needs a line of

sight for better clarity...the receptions will also depend on best at 1)same point or

other point reception 2)same frequency or other frequency reception.

Orientation towards the signal sender should maximise the gain for reciever

as we traditionaly used to do for our Old TV Yagi-Uda antenna (Line of Sight...Again!).

  3. Ur phone is ok . Just change the place of headphones when reception is not good.

  4. The phone also relies on your headset cable as an antenna so one problem could be that the cable is damaged and only makes good contact in some positions.

  5. Your phone has no problem.

As far as reception is concerned, FM gets distorted as the receiver should be in phase of the FM signal for maximum and best quality.
