  1. the clinch game , a guy like dan the man henderson

and his greco will give him fits

  2. He's not better than Anderson Silva. I mean he might beat him but he's not better p4p. I think his stand up is the only thing that could be a little bit better. I think the fighters that would give him trouble are Randy Cotoure, Mirko Cro Cop ( gave him trouble in the past), and Josh Barnett.

  3. The weakness in his game is that he cuts easily. That's it.

BJ Penn is the pound for pound best though. At 155 lbs domination isn't strong enough a word.

I believe the best chance at beating Fedor goes to Ricardo Arona or someone similar (a take down artist with great bjj). Watch their fight in Rings and you'll see why. Yes, Rings has different rules (no punching on the ground which is Fedor's strength).

  4. I think that Fedor's only weakness is that he is aging just like the rest of us. He's about 31 or 32 right now, and I don't think he will be beaten until he gets to an age where he just can't take the same amount of punishment that he can right now. One of the great things Fedor has going for him is that he is accomplished in MMA by this point in his life, unlike Kimbo Slice who is 34 and still trying to get to the top of the heap in MMA which he may not be able to do.

When it comes to being a great older fighter, Randy Couture is the exception, not the rule. I think Couture has set the bar pretty high for aging MMA fighters, and many of them will not be able to fight and win for as long as he did.

Another possibility is that Fedor may decide to retire before he ever gets beaten.

  5. i think a bigger stronger wrestler with good submission defense would give fedor fits.

someone already mentioned josh barnett and i agree totally.

as far as fedor being the best fighter in the world, i think he is.  i understand not ranking him first due to inactivity, but look at his record and his list of opponents.

one fluke cut loss early in his career to tsuyoshi kosaka which he easily avenged and then nothing but wins against a long list of great fighters.

gsp, penn, silva, all had off nights and lost to guys they shouldnt have lost to.  gsp was destroyed by serra, penn got pounded out by hughes and anderson silva  got tapped by the mother of all ankle locks by ryo chonan.

im not saying fedor wont ever be beaten, he likely will, but until i see it happen im going to have a pretty tough time not considering him to be the best fighter in the world.

  6. At this point, I think Anderson Silva, BJ Penn, and GSP are all better than Fedor (in that order) because he hasn't fought quality opponents in so long. If he runs through Sylvia, THEN he starts to challenge Silva. But he needs to prove himself again on the Affliction card if he wants to get back where he was, regarded as the best fighter in the world.

  7. i think fedors strength is simply that he stays calm and thinks. the mark of any good fighter. unlike guys like tito who run their mouths constantly.

he can take a hit and dish em out too. he seems indestructable.

i think his best quality is that he is relaxed, and emotionless. and simply capitalized on the opportunities many fighters miss. where fedor...if you mess up, he's on you and knows how to end the fight from anywhere in the blink of an eye, often sinking the choke or lock in before you even know it.

  8. at this time in his life, his mind is right. the combat is already decided before the match even begins.
