I am currently exempt from tax liability on my W-4 (I definitely KNOW I'm exempt that is NOT the question), but I was wondering if I can get a return from the mandatory Fica and Medical taxes that are taken out of my paycheck.

  1. It depends on why you are exempt - if you are exempt because you do not make enough money, then no - you are not exempt from Social Security and Medicare Taxes.

There are certain foreigners who are allowed to work in the US, are subject to income tax, but are exempt from social security tax - you would have to contact the IRS if you felt this exception might apply to you.  1-800-TAX-1040

  2. No!  All earned income is subject to SS and Medicare tax.

  3. NO.  That is taken out of your income if you earn any.  You are exempt from Federal Income Tax, not Social Security.

  4. no
