  1. I had Geico several years ago, there's a reason they aren't my insurance company anymore.  I hit four (yes, FOUR) deer in four years.  I lived in the middle of nowhere, with plenty of deer.  They just darted out of the woods right in front of me.  I had my truck for 5 weeks when I hit the first one.  I don't ever cry, and I cried that night.  After I sold the truck, the guy who bought has hit several more deer, so we know it's gotta be the truck's fault.  LOL  It's a deer-magnet!

Anyways... Geico didn't like me too much and would not renew my policy, but to be honest, I was searching for a new insurance company anyways because I had so much trouble getting my vehicle repaired.  The first problem was that I lived on the Alabama-Georgia state line (literally - our property line WAS the state line).  We had an Alabama address, but did all of our business in Georgia.  The adjuster couldn't find our house, so I always had to drive way out of my way in Alabama to meet him (because it was a rep from their Alabama department).  Then there was always an issue with them paying for the work (why did you take the vehicle so far to get it repaired? because the shop had a Georgia address, but they didn't realize it only took me 15 minutes to get there from my house).  Crazy stuff like that.

Oh, and the first time I hit a deer I decided to take it to a shop owned by a family member, and Geico didn't like that (they knew because we had the same last name, and that was the shop's name).  So they issued the check to me AND the company that the loan was with.  So once the repairs were finished, I had to drive two and a half hours to have the truck inspected by the loan company for them to sign off on the check.  THAT was a PAIN.  Which would be why I never went to a shop owned by a family member again...

There were other things too, but you get the point.  Hopefully you won't ever need their services for a claim, but if you do, well...

  2. I deal with the Geico reps on an occasional basis, and they seem to be pretty easy to deal with. I've only heard of 2 downfalls with Geico. 1) They raise you're rates pretty dramatically once you've had an accident, and 2) There are no agents, so if you have a problem with a claim....there's noone to go to bat for you.

But like I said.....I've had pretty good dealings with them.
