Does Giant Food Stores drug test applicants?

I'm trying to find a summer job and wondering if Giant Food Stores will drug test me if I apply.

I haven't worked for them in a long time (over 9 years now) but I know some folks that still work there.

To the best of my knowledge, they only test people that have jobs that they deem it is important to test for.

Pharmacy technicians, drivers of any sort, and managerial candidates.

Giant Food employees (the Washington, DC area company) are members of the UFCW union, and they are fairly well protected from unwarrented drug testing.

Of course, the fact that you are asking tells us you either are experimenting, or using actively.  Either way, if you show up at work under the influence, they can fire you.  They can also fire you during your first 90 days on the job without cause, so they don't have to test you to can you.  The union doesn't protect you until you are 90 days in.

Yes, most of them does.... they also have grammer tests so your pretty much out of luck.

Ofcoarse they do. Every major employer does. If you think you'll pee hot then try a small local company. Perhaps something in the construction industry. I would say 90% of all roofers I've ever met, smoke bud.

I would say yes.  Every company now drug tests.
