I have a case of heartburn that is going to drive me nutty.

I have some raw ginger and wondered if I chewed some or made tea, if there would be any relief.

  1. Ginger might help a little, but its not a guarantee. Your best bet is to make a tea or homemade ginger ale (this actually takes a few days because it has to ferment a little), but if you are short on time eating it raw is just fine.

  2. Ginger is apparently a highly effective herb for treating acid reflux. The effectiveness of ginger is due to its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and analgesic properties.

Ginger has been used for thousands of years to aid in digestion and treat stomach distress such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea so I'd say definitely give it a go.

Tea sounds best  (mmm... with a little lemon) but that's just my taste buds talking :)

  3. Yes! by all means. Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, ginger has been highly effective in resolving stomach disorders for thousands of years. Some sufferers may even be pleased to learn that relief can be found in a simple cup of tea.

    Ginger tea

3 thinly sliced pieces of "fresh" ginger

    1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

    teapot of water

    Prep:

    1. Place the ginger slices and ground cinnamon in your teacup.

    2. On the stovetop, boil your water.

    3. Pour the boiled water into the teacup, and stir gently.

    4. Allow tea to steep, and cool for a bit.

    5. Tea should be sipped to allow for the full effects of the ginger.

Do not make the mistake of using a substitute for fresh ginger. Ginger in its purest form is the most effective.

Lemon, sugar or honey may be added to enhance flavor.

  4. Try it as a tea, it will definitely help. Good luck.

  5. ginger is good for calming the stomach.
