Does God answer prayers?

I lost both my legs. Will he regrow them for me?

If not, then why does he only answer some prayers, but not others?

Yes, I have seen this happen but sometimes he answers them in a way we do not necessarily want or expect.

Yes, God answers prayers. Sometimes it's not how we want it to be answered though. It might be "no" or it might be "yes". But you can rest assured, that whatever the answer He gives you, it's what's best for you! He has your best interests in mind when He answers your prayers. He knows what the future is going to hold for you and He knows what you can handle, and what you can't handle. If you believe that Jesus shed His blood on the cross for your sins, than when you die, you will go to heaven and you will have a brand new and perfect body!!!!

God answers every prayer in a positive manner. He will either give you what you ask or something better. God has given you the potential for a special kind of greatness which the rest of us cowards will not be able to match. He figured the rest of us were not up to it. You need to pray for us.

Before I came to religion I used to think that people who claimed that they could pray to God and that He always answered them were nuts. There was no way the there was some person or being that could nor would possibly be able or willing to do all that humanity asked of Him. After I found religion I was one of those who believed that He could and did. But later I saw that the truth was somewhere in between.

Once when I did not think if was possible I just wrote the whole thing off as nonesense. Then when I did think it was possible, but God often did not do what people asked of Him, I believed as I was told that it was because God answers all prayers but sometimes the answer is NO. I worked with this idea for a while and tried to make it fit somehow, but over time and with much (NO)answered prayer, I started to wonder what prayer actually was, as it felt to be nothing more than a way to make people feel better. Regardless of the outcome of things, prayer was simply a source of comfort.

I thought it to be a request spoken or thought from my mouth or heart, directed towards God to change my situation from something I perceived as negative to something I perceived more positive. But over time, I realized that God allows everything to happen that happens. Period. Even in our perception of free will or the lack there of, depending on your own opinion of such, God still allows every single second of life to occur just as it does. Otherwise it would not happen that way.

If this is true and we still have all these requests that we feel need to be met, and God allows everything to happen, even when they DON'T get met, what was the purpose of prayer??? I did not understand and was searching for answers. This video explains in great detail what prayer actually is and shows that our desires are what God deals with and not perhaps the words that come from our mouths. The initial question is one I've asked myself many many times. I still have all my limbs, but when I was four, I used to pray that God would let me die and come to heaven rather than endure the abuse i was being put through by a member of my church.

Obviously he didn't let me die, as I'm still here. But I think he did answer my prayer, it was just not the answer I wanted. I wanted a resounding "yes" and instead I got a "NO".

Sometimes I still don't understand why I got that answer, especially with all the problems I've had in life due to that abuse, and other abuse I was forced to endure later.

I don't really know the answer you're looking for, it's one that each of us who struggles much find personally. Good luck finding your answer.

I used to pray to Joe Peshi, and more of my prayers were answered when I did that than when I prayed to the Christian God...wonder what that means.

yeah he answers prayers, but not neccessarilyy the wayy you wantt him to or right awayy either.

God answers all prayers; He says "yes" sometimes, and other times He says "no".  Sometimes His "yes" comes only after many years and in a way that we would not expect.  To Saint Paul, He said "no" to getting rid of the problem that he had.  He finally told him, "My strength is sufficient for thee."
