http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/indexFP.php?rn=3906861&cl=9483252&ch=4226713 - A member of a church in Long Island gave his $3 million lottery ticket to the church.

"I love when god does things that only He can take the credit for," says the Associate Pastor.

Is it true that the only explanation for winning the lottery is god? What about dice? Football games? What other odds can only be explained by god?

Do some humans not understand probability and odds? Could this explain why evolution is difficult for some?

  1. I wonder if that member of the church was a little miffed that the credit went to god, and not to his/her act of generosity...

    Hmmmmm....

  2. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

  3. god is a black jack dealer in Casino Royale.

  4. I think this is one of the great failings of contemporary christianity.  The notion that God intervenes for hangnails etc.  is a fantastic way to cheapen/degrade what is otherwise an amazing spiritual journey.

  5. Well, I don't see any magic in it.  There was a winning lottery ticket out there somewhere and SOMEONE had to get it.  That is not a miracle, it's inevitable.  The fact that this person saw a need and tried to fulfill it is also not a miracle.

If God answered their prayers, why hasn't he built every congregation a new church with lottery winnings?  It's simply ludicrous to say something like that.  Worse than that, it's manipulative.

  6. He blesses who He chooses to bless.

Why do you have to use a nice gesture like this to insult the intellegence of others

  7. '"I love when god does things that only He can take the credit for," says the Associate Pastor.'

Did the good pastor say that leaning against his new Lamborghini Diablo?

  8. yes Cod runs the Lottery too. he's one busy fish!
