Ive heard many times on this site how God doesnt create evil, humans choose evil.

But I was reading the Bible and I came across this passage in Isaiah that has me confused... Since we atheists are often accused of taking things out of context and not having the Holy Spirit to assist us in understanding the Bible, Im hoping one of you kind Christians can explain to me exactly what God meant in this passage:

Isaiah 45

45:1 Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;

45:2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:

45:3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

45:4 For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.

45:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.

45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and CREATE EVIL: I the LORD do all these things.

  1. well he did create everything big deal

  2. I appreciate the sincerity in which the questioned was ask. I'm assuming this text is from KJV however the original text given to us By the Catholic church who determined the canon of scripture is " I make well being and create woe"  This text is not assume that God create evil for he can not go against His own nature which is pure love.  In Fact it is to be interpreted that He allows it in order to bring a greater good.  Satan is the author of evil

  3. Yes. Of course for He is God- But this does not mean God is evil- that is where many are confused. All God does IS Good (James 1:17) And what He does is FOR Good that does not seem Good. In the end it is He who is glorified, for He has victory over evil. He is giving us salvation through Jesus Christ NOW. He died and rose again so we could be set free from evil, from sin. There is no sin in God, but we who are born were born into sin since the fall of adam and eve- when they sinned against God. That is why He has made a way for us to be saved- to be with Him forever in His kingdom, separated from h**l forever. The punishment for sin is h**l just as the Bible says. But the the gift of eternal life is in Christ Jesus. (Romans 5:8-9, Romans 6:23, Romans 3:23)

What God does is for His glory and the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28)

John 14:6 Jesus says "I am the way, truth and life and no one comes to the Father but through Me"

As Buddy said satan did choose evil, and those who are against God are following after the devil just as John 8 says. And he will try to do his best to get people away from God and further from the truth. That is why the gospel of Jesus Christ needs to be heard. People need to know the seriousness of sin and its consquences, because after this life it will be too late. We know we have victory through Jesus Christ over death and h**l- over the enemy. Jesus Christ is the truth- He is the beginning and the end, He is LORD! (John 1:1, Acts 2:36)

  4. Yes, but ultimately good will come out of the evil that we now experience.

  5. 45:7  evil there means calamity and harm or hurt. God does not only give a person peace but also calamity. The hebrew word being Ra ra ah

    prounced Rah, raw-aw

Jdg 2:10  And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

Jdg 2:11  And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:

Jdg 2:12  And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.

they were not created evil they chose to do evil.

  6. we create god and evil

  7. Yes, the Lord creates (present tense) evil. And I'm glad he does and that evil isn't here on its own. That would be freaking scary.

So we can have peace in knowing  God is in control of it....and that to destroy that (evil) God creates that is destructive,  (Remember Jesus cursed that fig tree?) Jesus Christ the Son of God became sin on the cross (2 Corinthians 5:21) and died so now evil has no power over us IF we are in Christ.

IF we are in Christ, but if we are not in Christ, evil prosmies to destroy us.

Note in the Lord's Prayer when Jesus taught them how to pray.. He said to ask God..."and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." God is not tempted with evil, but one needs to understand who God is.

The ancient Hebrews belived God did both good and evil and Job said he recieved from God evil and good.

    It is a long story

  8. Of course God creates evil, God is perfect which does NOT mean that God is only responsible for the things we perceive as good, it means that God creates the perfect balance of good and evil and fills this world with it because evil is necessary for progress, courage and so many other wonderful things which need eachother, God knows exactly what needs to be done and does it perfectly

  9. yes, that's right, that's what the Bible says.. now, take a rest, it is all fake

  10. God did not create evil.  What Isaiah 45 is referring to is Cyrus, the anointed of the Lord.

This had been prophesied before Cyrus was born so it is a futuristic prophecy concerning Cyrus, who killed and plundered cities .  He is the evil one who is being referred to here.

The only evil God could be responsible for is when He created man with a free will.

He also created the angels with a free will, which is the reason they rebelled.

Evil began when Lucifer, now called Satan, wanted to become as God and did not like 2nd place.

So in that respect, God created good and the free will of Lucifer caused him to fall  because he was proud and greedy.

The word evil is actually the hebrew word for calamity and it is a clear indication that the responsibility of our sin lies on us, not on God.  (cf Eph 1:1)

  11. Because it's unlikely that the Bible is the pristine word of God, you shouldn't use the bible to prove a point regarding the nature of God.

  12. if god created everything then by definition he created evil

  13. Well god did create everything, so surely he created evil?

I personally think god IS evil anyway so....

  14. No, that his a poor translation. God creates calamities like the Great Flood to bring judgement.

    (NASB)

    7The One (R)forming light and (S)creating darkness,

             Causing well-being and (T)creating calamity;

I am the LORD who does all these.

Satan chose to sin. Satan is the origin of sin and evil.

  15. god is evil.  He didnt create it he is it

  16. "There is no knowing what God is.

Something we do know, namely, what God is not.

In God is no good nor better nor best."

    Meister Eckhart

    Best regards.

  17. i happen to come across something similar in a book and it said:

to realize that their is no evil is an evil itself... i think i was confused after I read that line.. especially in a bible...

so how can god create evil if he is pure... i dont know...

but dont use that statement to prove that their is no god.

their might be one even though you might not agree or understand everything.
