  1. People want to know why we are here...so they search for answers...God and Evolution are both answers to this question...there are others as well you know???

What you believe isn't important what is important is that you always question why you believe it?  If you only believe in God because you were constantly dragged to church and told that it was the answer without ever questioning it and looking outside of that mentality I'd say you aren't a true believer...and the opposite is true as well.

  2. By listening, watching, experiencing and studying some history you should be able to decide for yourself what you choose to believe.Because after all,it IS what we believe that will satisfy our curiosity.

  3. Only the truth will be written in the book of life so it matters not one iota what we believe.

  4. Belief/dis-belief is just an opinion. It doesn't change the facts at all.

  5. Ultimately, it doesn't matter. To those who believe, may their faith be unshakable. To those who speak, may they have mercy. To those who are ignorant of one way or another, may their God be with them, for in the end whether we suffer the Laws of this land or the next, it is their choice whether to come and go. I agree with Simply Respect, casually talking about this subject is disrespectful, but I do pray that at least someone may get what they need out of this conversation and then my job (and perhaps yours, if you want it) will be done. Thank you for being patient with me and to those who don't understand what I say please do not slander me, I speak with respect and do not incite any type of negativity.

  6. The problem here for me is defining God. If God is everything [some kind of binding force of nature] then clearly God must exist. If God is what ever [force] created the Universe then assuming that time and space began at a point then God must exist. If God is an intelligent being who created the Universe I would say that its likely he does not exist. If God does exist there is to my mind no reason why God needs to be all loving, all judging or even all knowing.. in the sense that we may think. There is no particular reason why God should be easy to imagine or be accessable to us or even to organised religion. No two religions have independently painted the same picture of God which suggests that logically we cannot know a whole lot about him/it. The suggestion that God may appear in different guises seems to me a way around the problem and not a satisfactory solution. For example if God and the devil could appear in different guises how could you tell which it was?

Evolution on the other hand is not so problematic. Evolution is inherently logical and only potentially difficult to imagine over the extremely long time periods which really showcase its limitless potential. Evolution is the unifying theory of biology and the first unifying theory of the sciences. There are details that still may be argued over regarding gene selection and cooperation [and so on..] on a mechanical level but this type of stuff is trivial to the main idea. The only problem with evolution is that it appears sterile and mechanical.. that emotion is merely a gauged response to a given scenario.. but we dont need to think like that in our daily lives. In fact evolution neednt be so cold as it doesnt conflict with the idea of an initial creator. It may be assumed that the vitalist believes in a creator and the mechanist doesnt but this is not true. I think its important to note that the mechanist can believe in a creator and the vitalist may not. Evolution doesnt explain our origins but goes some way towards explaining everything since our origins [as gene based lifeforms at least].

If thereoretically God is real then does he/it need us to believe in him for our own sake? Is heaven an achievable goal or a self delusion? I sure dont know but remain skeptical.

If evolution is real and God isnt [or doesnt care what we think] then the question is which is of greater evolutionary benefit, belonging to or abandoning an organised religion in favour of scientific belief? The problem there is that question is only answered by one thing: faith or faithlessness. God truly is dead for the faithless and whether that is of evolutionary benefit only time will tell.

  7. Hello,

(ANS) I'm an Atheist and I don't believe in God or in Religions of any kind at all.

No.1 God & religion only exist in the mind of man (no! where else)

No.2 God & religion is a human construct, an abstract idea, a human created concept.

No.3 God & religion invented by humans for humans.

No.4 God & religion remains the "single greatest cause" of human misery, suffering & pain than it ever heals or solves. Look at the crusades of the middle ages or the events of 9/11 for example.

No.5 God & religion has been responsible for more wars, & deaths in the last 5,000 years than anything else.

**I firmly believe in Darwinian Evolution through the process of natural selection. This is firmly proved as factually accurate by the evidence in the fossil record.

**I firmly believe in the idea that the earth & entire universe was created 37.5 Billion years ago from a single event called the Big Bang.

**That life & the Universe is FAR far more mysterious than we humans will ever know. That at the core of our existence is a mystery but of course humans hate not knowing, and hate mysteries, we cannot seem to bear that.

  8. First off, I'm an atheist.

Second off, anyone who says God exists is lying to you. The truth is that, while God may exist, there is no empirical reason to believe that he/she/it does exist. The only reason why people do believe in God is because they have faith in his/her/its existence. It's similar to someone believing in aliens without seeing any physical proof that they do exist.

As for whether it matters what you believe...that depends. If you live in America or even certain places in Europe, then no one really cares what you believe, as long as you don't try to seriously impact the political system (or something similar) with unsubstantiated ideas.

On the flip side, however, there is scientific evidence for evolution whereas there isn't for creationism/intelligent design. Given that the only way humans can ever truly discover anything unequivocally is through science, denying evolution makes a person sound about as intelligent as denying the usefulness of science altogether. Put another way, if you're willing to deny evolution, you may as well deny the success of science in developing personal computers, cell phones, cars, etc. because all of them (including evolution) were discovered via the same basic process: the scientific method.

My overall point is that you can believe anything you want; it's certainly your right to. However, if you want to come across as intelligent, then evolution is really the only choice. There isn't a single creationist/intelligent design argument that is scientific (despite what some might say.)

If you're interested in some of the logic behind atheist beliefs, visit youtube.com and type in "Richard Dawkins." He's a very brilliant British biologist/atheist who can explain the details much better than I can here.

  9. of course it matters that is the whole point of clear vision seeing what you can not see in this reality :)))))))))))

Hear me Third P God exists & he is very near us now :)) This I know and believe with my entire being :))))

    Blessings to all :)))

  10. You might be stretching the remit of Y!A here in asking that! I've tried to restrict myself to asking for unknowable answers to questions like: "How do you drive a Triumph Herald quickly around corners?" and "How do you solve the credit crunch?" and they weren't that successful.

That said, to try to answer your unanswerable questions on the meaning of life:

Does God exist? It's currently impossible to prove otherwise however no empirical evidence has been suggested for his existence. It's therefore unlikely.

Creation or evolution? Whilst there are huge arguments about this, my personal feelings are that relatively rapid historic evolution is possible and the simplest explanation for complex life. More complicated options involving previously developed life and subsequent creationism is possible. I suggest Occam's razor as something to cling to.

Does my belief matter? To me it does. To my family, less so. To you? insignificantly. In the grand scheme of things? Either in a universe that expands into dark black nothingness or contracts back into a tiny spot of huge mass, I doubt it. Apparently it doesn't stop me trying.....

  11. I don't know and yes and yes and to who. What you believe matters to all capitalists.

  12. By rationalizing, yes. And Creation or Evolution: it's Creation. Nothing could evolve without being created first. And, yes, it does really matter what you believe. For belief -- you may call it "outlook" -- is the foundation of all your action. And the result of your action is cause of all your satisfaction -- which is happiness. Belief in the existence of the Creator is, therefore, important to the attainment of happiness.

  13. Yes God exists and i believe in creation and that God made us for a purpose and that one day Jesus will come back very soon.

you also have a nice day

  14. To me the existance of life is one of the main proofs.

I can not believe in the theory of evolution. Matter could not simply explode and make life because even then where did that matter come from. Someone had to make it. Nor can I believe that a monkey turned in to a human. Another thing that proves the validity of the scriptures in at least that they are the same scriptures from when Jesus was here on earth are the dead sea scrolls. Read about them online. In 2000 years only 3 words of no importance have changed from the manuscript found. Another major reason that I believe that he exists is bible profecy. Read Mathew 24. It describes how the world would be in the last days, and it is exactly how it is.4Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,[a]' and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.

9"Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

But you, Daniel, close up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge."

Daniel 12:4-I believe that there is definitely more knowledge and we spend our lives running to and fro.

There are many such profecies that have been fufilled.

It does matter whether you choose to believe in God or not because that will determine your eternal destiny. If you are wrong you will have lost out on eternal life and happiness.

  15. I think the only person it matters to is the person who believes or doesn't.  I think people who believe in god and the creation find it to be a very important part of their lives whereas people who don't believe in god and believe in evolution don't really think of it as a biggy.  I certainly don't find myself dwelling on the fact that I'm descended from a monkey.  Actually, I do occasionally bring it up when I'm teaching people about diets, I say "Now come on, how many fat monkey's do you see and they certainly don't eat loads of carbs." hehehehe

  16. Yes God exists, and the question of Creation or Evolution has no bearing whatsoever on that matter.  A God who creates everything in an ordered and scientific manner is far greater than a God whose activity is delimited by archaic and frequently misunderstood or misinterpreted myths.

  17. i believe in god, it doesn't matter if he exist or not however when you insist on inserting theology in the class room as science or fact that does matter it's fact verses fiction

  18. I believe in evolution. its been proved

hundreds of times. i dont hate the bible or anything though,

i mean its a great rule for morals, but nothing more...

im an agnostic. who/what created the universe, however

is a completely different story- haha!

  19. in the early years yes it was a big thing but now i don't think so.

scientists have porven that we have evolved over millions of years.

somewhere out there, theres probably another planet like our own and they are probably thinking the same thing, unless they have evolved way past us.........who knows....all these ufo sightings might be folks from that other earth simlar to ours.

  20. God exists.

    nothing else matters.

    love

    Pluto

  21. Our beliefs really does not matter.

  22. If man has the ability to make others believe whatever he wishes, then he would say, he is God! Just because he doesn't have that power, he says that there is God!                -jose

  23. In a democracy, it's important that all beliefs be respected.  So, if I want to believe and worship as I do, it's vital to my interests to protect your beliefs and the way you worship.  For the overall question, you might take a minute to look at Pascal's Wager. It's famous!

  24. I think the proof of the existence of God comes to me from my realisation of my own existence. Since I know that I am not alone, I therefore, realise that I exist - as if I was all alone in the world, I would not have realised that I exist at all, I would have taken all the world to be myself. Then if I can exist, and others like me exist, the there is possibility in my mind the God can exist too.

I really do not appreciate thinking on this matter any further this casually, as this is important not to talk about God without due care and reverence of an enlightened self. The matters of faithful beliefs are not same as the matters for common philosophical discussions. It would do no good if the concept of God were brought to common discussions merely as a fodder for the mind without having a solid and properly conceived purpose in view.

Then the question of evolution of creation is the matter of the nature of human mind, and not merely that of physicality of our existence. I realise that human mind extends far beyond the fulfilment of physical needs. Where evolution is as the process of natural evolution is the way of all things in the physical to be in time, creation is the concept conceived purely in the mind.

Creation is not a scientifically valid concept, it us purely spiritual that is best defined religiously. It is not possible to see any proof of anything being created if not the entirety of all that exists. In a natural world all things have their causes and every cause its effect. It is things alone that change into other things. But the question remains as where has all the things, in their entirety come for, the life, the universe, thoughts, ideas, absolute concepts, where do they have their origins. Then all the answers to such question necessitate for us to contemplate upon some act of creation as a reality above and beyond the physical nature of the world.

Then the third part of your compound question is about all that I have already said. There are things that we do not understand but there are things in the mind that we never understand unless we develop a sense in the mind by which we are able to retain knowledge. Without beliefs our mind would be like a run away train, unable to stop and form beliefs, it would then go on an on purposelessly. This is all too natural in the mind to form beliefs and thereby get to know things, especially things that are beyond the grasp of our physically sensitive mind.

  25. i believer GOD exists.    evolution or not GOD's existence matters in our lives only if we can relate to HIM.    and relate means two way relationship.  that is.  you speak and HE hears.  you speak and HE hears.

  26. I believe God exsists and i believe in creation.  If you are a boy but think your a dog then yes it does matter what you believe.

  27. Creation and Evolution; if God exists, he expects you to use your noggin'.  Where did those fossils come from, and what logical reason does one have to deny modern dating methods?  Science proves its theories correct all the time through observable experiments, so what reason could a person deny carbon dating?

    I believe in God.

  28. i have no clue .

i always think about it like its really not possible for him to do the thanqs he did right?

i mean how did he get pwers? would anyone have powers like that in the future or maybe already does && you no the story were he like made the world ,,then VIOLENCE started! then he told that man to build a boat put every animal on it yea i forget the guys name && so he flooded the world it makes no sence cause every animal! WTF but i guess i believe we really are realated if we track the past down but im not gunna write a book here but yes i believe in the word god but i really dont kno what i believe i think hes just another randomn guy lmao who got street cred or suttin like that but i dont like to doubt him but you kno how ppl say yuh have to believe in order for him to help yuh yea i believed for like my whole life  &&i never gotten a mericle && everythanq i basikally have besides lifee i got it with my two hands or someone helped me but idk bye yea im addin more to this but see how that girl wrote jeusus will come or w/e ppl always tell me that god or jeusus will come && save us but save us from what? if its violence theres no point cause its all gunna happen all over again lmao yea im a lil tiny thanq but i got much on my mind but really we dont need no savin lmao && ppl also say god is causin global warmin just like the flood idk it makes no sensce if you ask me && ehmn who would be the choosen one to build the boat ?lmao what im sayin doesnt make sense but idk get me?

  29. I don't believe God exists, and as the previous response says, the body of evidence for evolution is so strong as to be as incontrovertible as anything can be.

In terms of whether it matters: I think your own personal belief system is your own personal business until you make it someone else's.  By this I'm referring to things like: criticising others beliefs, teaching your beliefs as fact, acting in a way that affects the wider population according to your beliefs.  Healthy questioning and understanding of all possibilities makes life more harmonious and interesting, as well as bringing us closer to the truth.

  30. Belief matters not.  Truth, or as close as we can get, is what we should strive for.
