Question:

Does HR have to return your calls?

I have been dealing with HR for the past 2 months, regarding an entry level position at a large corporation. So far, I've interviewed for a position 3x and then was recommended for the same position in a diff. dept. It's been 1.5 weeks and I havent heard back..Usually, when I call my HR person, she gets back to me that day or the next at like 8 45. I called on Tues. (a week after my 4th interview) and have yet to receive a phone call back. What may be some reasons for this? Does HR have to return a phone call to tell you if you didn't get hired? (When I didn't get the first position, I got a call back right away after I called my HR)

  1. HR does NOT have to return your calls or talk to you.

Take that as a hint that you do not get the job.

  2. Your HR person is probably busy, and may not know anything yet and now you are becoming a pest, which they find very irritating, or they may have made a decision and you weren't selected and they are mailing you a letter to let you know someone else was selected.  Follow-ups are good but to keep calling and asking what's going on is irritating, and slowly they begin to like you less.  From your several posts on this one job alone you need to work on patience and don't pester your HR person, be patient and wait, they will call you or you will get a letter, at this point I would say let it go.
