Question:

Does He Remember...???

My William, has had 2 operations with a 3rd coming up in a few weeks, to repair his inner ears.

Both operations were in January & February this year, when he was 2 & 4-5 months.

Today I noticed a bit of discharge on the edge of his ear, and went to wipe it away. However he ended up screaming, and I mean full on screaming. He refused to allow me anywhere near his ear, he wouldn't even let his Dad wipe it.

This isn't the first time this has happened since his operation. Before the operations he was fine, allowing people to touch and whatever.

Do you think he remembers his operation???

He normally isn't a fearful child, but he acted like we were going to kill him. :(

  1. I don't think he remembers. He might but probably won't for long. I think he might be hurting. You probably should check with a doctor.

  2. Ayva has been the same since her small operation - cant touch her ears or she screams bloody murder. Maybe they do remember to a certain point, like they know that something happened to their ears and it wasnt fun!

But i think its something they'll grow out of. Poor beautiful little William :(

  3. i think he is in fear sweety or maybe when you touch it

it hurts him that proebly explains the (screaming)

maybe he is fear like i said hez scared that u might do somethingg to him thats what i thinkk but hope he is okayy

    tho

  4. i doubt he remembers however who really knows. i assume he is still very young. i would be more likely to believe that his ear hurts when he touches it so he knows he dosent want anyone else touching it. i will keep william in my prayers.good luck.

  5. My little sister had hip problems from birth and it wasn't picked up until she was trying to walk (unsuccessfully). She is now 6yo and has had 4 major operations to try and fix the dislocation, twice they have broken her leg to manoeuvre it into a better position. My dad said that as a tiny girl (her first Op was around 10 months old) she was really good with her first visit to the surgeon, but after the Op she would scream blue murder too about even going into his office for a check up. She has recently (3 months ago) just had another lot of surgery where her leg was broken again and she had plaster from her torso to her ankle to keep her demobilised. This time she was fine with the surgeon, didn't want pain relief within a day after the Op and was dragging herself around the house with in a week, much to Dad's disgust, lol. As another person said, he can probably remember that something happened, but not exact details and that it hurt.........he will grow out of it, he just doesn't fully understand why.

  6. Maybe the area is hurting him.

Might want to check with the doctor on what to do.

  7. Well he is a person, so he might now remember it later, but he's feeling it now for sure.

The doctors say that doing things to a baby can traumatize them in the first few months.
